Air Hockey was invented by some engineers at Brunswick approximately around 1969. They wanted to develop a game that had a frictionless playing surface. It wasn't until the early 1970's that the game was put into functional form.

In the mid 70's tournament Air Hocky play began to emerge. The United States Air-Hockey Association (USAA) was formed throughout 1975 to establish playing standards of high competitive quality. There are national and world championships regularly held by the USAA. Serious Air Hockey players can join their professional community..

Air Hockey is played on an air-hockey table by using two paddles and a puck. Friction is reduced for the pucks with some type of machinery used to make a cushion of air beneath the smooth playing surface of the table. The table has goals at both ends with a puck-return application, and side cushions to keep the puck on the table.

The mallet (paddle) and pucks are commonly plastic and/or polycarbonate resin. The paddle looks similar to a tiny Sombrero or hat

An Air Hockey game is played in a normal way as regular hockey since you strike towards your opponent's goal and defend your own goal from their shots. It can be a high-energy, fast-action game suitable for the entire family. since the game is played competively, serious players be able to perfect their skills and better their prowness constantly.

According to the rules for Air Hockey defined by the USAA and include: first person to score 7 points by shooting the puck into the opponent's goal wins; you have 7 seconds to return the puck once it is on your side of the table or it is a foul and you forego possession of the puck to your challenger; player can't lie their mallet on top of the puck or use any other gadget or body part to strike the puck, or it is a foul and possession is lost; same rule for blocking opponent's shot- nothing can be used other than the mallet; you can't strike the puck once it has crossed the center line into your competitor's side; a foul occurs when the puck flies off the table..

Air Hockey is for both individuals who want to have fun and those who are competitive, serious players. Having a good Air Hockey Table and supplies is essential for both groups. You never know whether that little guy or gal is the future world Air Hockey champion.
