Practice makes a man perfect is something that each of us is aware of. And it’s true when it comes to soccer practice sessions. The kids are hopeful of attempting something new in the field every single day. However, remember that the kids must be made to practice old techniques in soccer training regularly that have been taught by you.
So here the difficult part for you is to ensure that kids don’t get bored practicing the same drills day in and day out. Given below are certain tricks that’ll allow you to execute practice sessions in a disciplined, expected, and an attractive way.
1. This has already been highlighted as very important. Kids emulate you so you need to behave in a way that’s expected of them. You should reach the filed on dot, illustrate your ability to tackle the ball, engage everyone in drills, and organize sound practice sessions. This has the effect of winning over the player’s confidence and respect.
2. The kids should be instructed to get to the field everyday with their own ball. It is mandatory that every kid has a soccer ball. Just in case they forget to bring it, keep some extra balls with you.
3. Some soccer moves must be practiced everyday without fail. Kicking, passing, dribbling, and throw-ins account for some basic elements in soccer practice. The kids must practice these regularly. Involve everyone in it and see that even those kids who are apprehensive initially also become a part of it.
4. Introduce more games than soccer drills in practice sessions. This is mainly because comparatively more resilience and skill is required in games than drills. In addition, you can research on new methodologies while maintaining the focus on soccer with games.
5. Regulation is of paramount importance for a team in order to be victorious. With young players, it is no big deal to have mistakes. Ensure that you nip all issues in the bud to whether big or small. But mind the method since you are dealing with young kids here and not adults.
6. During the training session, you will observe that there are some players who do not participate in the drill. Make certain that this does not take place. All the young players should involve themselves in the game. Talk to the players about their respective positions and teach them to be responsible in those positions.
7. Do not encourage a lot of scrimmage. Ideally, it should not be more than 15 to 20 minutes at the end of each session. Also, do not appoint a goalie when scrimmaging. This will ensure that kids become good at defense.
8. Keep innovating and experimenting with games and drills. There is no better way to keep the kids engaged in training.
